Improve Your Shaving Technique

Improve Your Shaving Technique

2019/02/20

Shaving probably isn’t your favorite thing to do, in fact, it’s probably among your least favorite things to get done. For most, it’s because of all the problems it can cause for you and your skin. You can do something about it. Get informed and improve your technique. It’s true, if you knew better, you would do better. Incorporate these tips in your shaving (and skin care) routine and shaving might become one of your favorite things after all.

Prerequisites:

  • Exfoliate 2 to 3 times per week. Exfoliating your skin removes dead skin and helps to prevent ingrown hairs. A routine that incorporates consistent exfoliating keeps debris away, pores unclogged, and skin better prepared for shave-time. Try the Scotch Porter Charcoal & Licorice Exfoliating Face Scrub.
  • Use a  daily moisturizer with at least SPF 15 to help keep skin healthy and wrinkle-free.
  • Invest in a high quality razor. Your razor should be sharp, clean, dent free, and dried immediately after use.

Use a pre-shave oil (and shaving cream). Shave oil makes the shave smooth.  The Scotch Porter Sensitive Skin Pre-Shave Oil is made with 100% all natural oils (including Safflower Oil, Marula Oil, Olive Oil, Avocado Oil and Broccoli Seed Oil) perfect for eliminating nicks and abrasions.

Apply your shaving cream on top of your pre-shave oil. Use a thin, even coat (this helps reduce razor clog). When applying your shave cream rub the lather against the grain to raise your facial hair for an easier cut. For the best results, use a shave brush to apply your cream. The Scotch Porter Sensitive Skin Shaving Cream is easy to spread and allows you to better see where you’re shaving. Allow the shaving cream to sit for 1 to 2 minutes to soften hair. Shave in the direction of the hair growth with short strokes

When it comes to manscaping, the same rules apply above minus the scrub. Your sensitive areas need and deserve T.L.C. and as the saying goes, "handle with care"! #ThankUsLater

Use an after shave to soothe the skin after shaving. The right after shave, will soothe and condition skin helping to reduce any irritation.

Include these tips in your routine and you’ll surely notice a difference. Remember, quality products can make all the difference. Add in a little patience and perseverance and you’ll be on your way to the shave routine that’s just right for you.
